Prepare The Files Before You Burn
Gather the material in one clearly organized location. Remove duplicates, use recognizable folder names and check that the files open from their original location. This makes the disc easier to inspect after it has been written.
A data CD or DVD stores the selected files. It does not convert music to the audio-CD format or turn video files into DVD-Video. Use the dedicated audio or video workflow when a standalone player requires those formats.
Build And Burn The Project
- In Free Burning Studio, open Data Disc Wizard.
- Select Build & Burn to Disc, then use Add Files or Add Folder to assemble the content.
- Choose CD or the appropriate DVD media type and check the total size.
- Give the volume a useful label and select the target writer.
- Review the summary before starting, then let the build and write finish.
Choose Settings For The Receiving Device
The file-system choice affects how names and directories are represented on the disc. For general file storage, begin with a standard data-disc option such as ISO 9660 + Joliet and check the requirements of the computer or device that will read it.
Do not assume that every DVD player can browse a data disc, or that every reader supports every rewritable format. For an older device, its manual is more useful than the maximum specifications of the writer.
Check The Written Copy
Use verification where available, then open the completed disc and inspect its folder layout. Read a selection of files directly from the disc, including a large file and files in nested folders.
Keep your original files until you are satisfied with the result. If the disc is part of a backup plan, retain another copy in a separate location rather than relying on one piece of optical media.
