A PRACTICAL GUIDE

Bring Your Music CD Collection To Your PC

Save separate tracks you can name, organize and listen to without reaching for the original CD each time.

Choose A Useful Archive Format

The Rip Audio CD task in Free Burning Studio offers WAV files and raw BIN/CUE images. WAV is the practical choice when you want a separate audio file for each track. BIN/CUE is more suitable when your goal is to preserve a disc-image layout.

This ripping workflow does not directly promise MP3 output. If you later need smaller listening copies, use a separate audio-conversion tool after checking the WAV files. Keep the archival source distinct from those converted copies.

Work One Album At A Time

  1. Create a clearly named folder for the album on a drive with enough free space.
  2. Insert the disc, open Audio & Music Wizard and choose Rip Audio CD.
  3. Choose the source drive and WAV output, then select the album folder.
  4. Read the tracks and inspect any messages about retries or read failures.
  5. Check the track count, listen to representative sections and give the files meaningful names.
  6. Repeat for the next album, then keep a second copy of the checked archive.

Check More Than The Filenames

Listen near the beginning and end of tracks, particularly when a disc was scratched or the read log reported problems. A file existing on the hard drive does not by itself prove that all the audio was read correctly.

Do not assume album names, artwork or online track information will appear automatically. Organize the files in a way you can still understand if you move the collection to another player or computer.

Keep The Originals While You Verify

A local music archive is easier to manage when errors are caught as you go. Retain the original discs, avoid replacing checked files with uncertain re-rips, and separate completed albums from those that still need attention.
